Dedication Ceremony Held For New Readiness Center/Wellness Center

(Estherville)– Hundreds of people turned out Saturday for a dedication of the new Readiness Center/Regional Wellness Center in Estherville.

Estherville Mayor Lyle Hevern was among those addressing the crowd. He says the brand new facility is further evidence of a renewed spirit and growth in the city.

Major General Ron Dardis of the Iowa National Guard praised the community for the achievement and thanked Estherville for its support. He described the new facilty as a flagship for the Iowa National Guard.

Congressman Tom Latham says the Estherville project should serve as a model to the rest of the state and nation.

Lieutenant Governor Sally Pederson was also on hand for Saturday’s event. She praised the role Iowa soldiers have played in the war on terrorism and the war in Iraq. Pederson called one everyone to remember those Iowans who gave up their lives while fighting for us.

construction on the new Readiness Center was completed in November at a cost of nearly 3.7 million dollars. The Regional Wellness Center was completed and opened its doors to the public in February at a cost of slightly more than six million dollars. 2.6 million was raised through private contributions.
