(Ames)– Longtime efforts to get Highway 86 upgraded between Highway nine and the Minnesota state line may have some new impetus.
The Iowa Department of Transportation has completed a draft of it’s five-year program from 2011-2015. It includes Highway 86 as one of four projects in a program to improve system capacity and economic development.
Dakin Schultz of the D.O.T’s regional office in Sioux City tells KUOO news right-of-way acquisition is scheduled for 2012 and grading/paving for 2013.
D.O.T. commissioners will consider the program at their June 8th meeting in Fort Madison.
