Crash Near Royal Claims Spencer Man

November 22, 2014

(Royal)– A Spencer man has died in a one-vehicle accident southwest of Spencer Tuesday night.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 48-year-old Robert Quist, Junior was killed after losing control as he was northbound on 190th Avenue at the intersection with 360th Street. The pickup he was driving went into the east ditch and continued through a field before being stopped by trees and flood water, just short of the Ocheyedan River.

Quist was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy is being performed to determine whether Quist died from injuries sustained in the accident or if a medical condition caused the accident.

The Royal Fire and Rescue assisted on the scene.
