Crash Claims Life Of Estherville Man

November 23, 2014

(Estherville)– A one vehicle crash late Monday morning in Emmet county has claimed the life of an Estherville man.

The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Richard Stave of Estherville was driving a 1997 Chevrolet van southbound on county road N-60 when it veered across the centerline and went into the east ditch. It hit a driveway and became airborne…hitting a tree before coming to rest.

Stave was pronounced dead at the scene.

The van, owned by Medieval Glass of Estherville, was a total loss.

The mishap was reported to authorities shortly after 11:00 a.m.

It remains under investigation by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
