Cracked Poles Raise Ire Of Milford Council Members

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The city of Milford is having more problems with decorative light poles in the downtown area.

Many of the fiberglass light poles have developed cracks since they were installed nearly two years ago.

About 36 poles were replaced a year or so ago at the manufacturer’s expense. Now, city officials say atleast another 29 poles have cracks in them and also need replacing.

The city council Monday directed City Administrator Brian Reed to contact the company that manufactured them to see if they can negotiate to replace the fiberglass poles with aluminum-cast poles.
