Courthouse Bond Issue Absentee Voting

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– If the number of absentee ballots that have been taken out so far are any indication, interest in the September 30th Dickinson county courthouse bond issue referendum may be waning.

Dickinson County Auditor Nancy Reiman says about 60 absentee ballots had been cast or mailed out as of late Wednesday afternoon. She says that’s behind the previous three elections. But Reiman expects the activity to increase soon. She says most absentee voting takes place in the last week or two leading up to the election.

There’s still plenty of time to vote absentee, and Reiman says the process is pretty simple. You can obtain an application for an absentee ballot by contacting her office or by going to the county’s website. You can also vote absentee by stopping by the Auditor’s office in person, but you’ll still have to complete an application.

Friday, September 19th is the deadline to register to vote in the September 30th referendum. Only those Dickinson county residents who have not registered in previous elections need to do so.
