County Home Road Project Bumped Up

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– A widening and resurfacing project on 170th Street, or “County Home Road”, will be getting underway earlier than first thought.

Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert says L-C Kruse of Lakefield, the general contractor, plans to start work Thursday. He says they hope to get it done in a week or so, in advance of the Fourth of July weekend. An earlier timeframe didn’t have the project getting underway until AFTER the Fourth.

Eckert says an official detour route hasn’t been established for the heavily-travelled road, which will be closed to through-traffic. He says that’s because the road isn’t a designated farm-to-market route. Motorists are being advised to use Sanborn Avenue and 165th Street…or the Center Lake Road…as detours.

The project has a total cost of slightly more than 281-thousand dollars.
