(Spencer)– Representatives of city and county governments served by the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation gathered Thursday to sign a proclamation declaring October as Manufacturing Month. Manufacturing Day is recognized on the first Friday of each October.
An analysis of the corridor’s laborshed conducted in 2025 by Iowa Workforce Development shows manufacturing employs 11.4 percent of residents and is the 3rd largest industry in the corridor region, behind only retail and healthcare. In the state, manufacturing is the largest industry, accounting for 17 percent of the GDP and contributing $35 million annually to the state’s economy, according to Iowa’s advanced manufacturing website.
As in the past, the Corridor will once again be participating in Manufacturing Month by touring facilities in its four county service territory and by conducting awareness through social media and other means.
