Consultation Held On East Okoboji TIF Proposal

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A consultation with taxing entities that would be affected by plans to extend the life of a Tax Increment Finance District in the East Okoboji Beach Area was held as part of Tuesday’s Dickinson county board of supervisors meeting.

No representatives from any of the entities were on hand for the session, which is required under Iowa law whenever a Tax Increment Finance District is formed or modified.

The existing TIF District was put into place to cover the cost of installing sanitary sewer. The extended TIF would finance a project to address drainage and to pave streets in the development.

The proposal so far has drawn no opposition.

A public hearing will be held prior to the supervisors taking formal action on the matter. It’s set for February 10th.
