(Spirit Lake)– The final hurdles have been cleared for a wind farm Clipper Wind Power plans to build in western Dickinson county.
The Board of Adjustment Monday approved the remaining eight conditional use permits that were needed for the project to become a reality. Several stipulations were attached to them, similar to the ones attached on the first six permits the board approved a month ago.
Clipper Wind Power plans to put up 29 wind turbines west of Highway 86. The company has a contract to sell the power they’ll produce to Alliant Energy/Interstate Power and Light Company. The turbines will be connected to a neighboring substation through underground transmission lines.
Company officials say construction of the 43 and-a-half million dollar project will start this coming April.
