(Spencer)– There’s growing concern over the future of Iowa’s Senior Living Trust Fund.
Cynthia Beauman is the Executive Director of the Spencer-based Northwest Aging Association. She tells KUOO news, unless something is done soon, the days of the trust fund are numbered. She’s concerned the state will continue to transfer more and more money out of the fund to cover a growing deficit in the Medicaid program.
Beauman says hundreds of senior citizens in northwest Iowa rely heavily on the Senior Living Trust for programs that help them remain independent.
Based on how things are going, Beauman estimates the fund will be broke in five years.
