(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle collision Wednesday evening at the intersection of Sunner Avenue and 175th Street, or Stakeout Road at the city limits of Spirit Lake and Okoboji, sent three people to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Police Department says 48-year-old Laura Groth of Spirit Lake was northbound on Sunner Avenue and had stopped for a stop sign when she pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Courtney Unrau of Spirit Lake who was westbound on 175th Street.
Groth and Unrau, along with a passenger in one of the vehicles, Rachel Walvoord, were all taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no immediate word on their conditions.
$6,000 in damage was estimated to a 2000 Volkswagon bug Groth was driving; damage to a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Unrau was estimated at $9,000.
Groth was cited for a stop sign violation; no charges were filed against Unrau.
The collision took place around 8:30 p.m.
