(Wahpeton)– The Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Alliance is out with its wish list for the upcoming session of the Iowa Legislature.
Coordinator Steve Anderson says getting funding restored to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ REAP Program is at the top of the list.
Anderson says they’re also calling on lawmakers to pass a bill requiring homeowners in the Iowa Great Lakes watershed to use phosphorous-free fertilizer on their yards.
He says local control of confined animal operations is also a high priority, along with getting legislation passed to control invasive species other than just Eurasian Watermilfoil.
Anderson says they also want something done about speed, noise and numbers of boats and other watercraft on lakes.
The alliance presented it’s list Monday at a meeting with State Representative Greg Stevens of Milford and Senator-elect David Johnson of Ocheyedan.
