Cleanup Underway In Tornado Ravaged Rolfe & Bradgate

November 22, 2014

(Bradgate)– Clean-up efforts kicked into high gear over the weekend in the tornado-ravaged communities of Rolfe and Bradgate.

The communities were ripped apart Friday evening by a violent tornado that first struck the Pocahontas county town of Rolfe, heavily damaging several homes and a golf course. From there the tornado moved into Humboldt county and the town of Bradgate. A sheriff’s deputy estimated about 75 percent of the small town was demolished. Ellen Gordon, Iowa’s Emergency Management Director, said 30 of the town’s 42 homes sustained major damage.

There were several reports of injuries, none of them serious.

Governor Tom Vilsack has issued a proclamation of disaster for Humboldt county.
