(Spencer)– Iowa’s unemployment rate in November stood at 3.9 percent…down from 4.2 percent in October and 3.7 percent a year ago. That’s according to the latest figures released Thursday by the Iowa Workforce Development.
Locally, Chad Shryock of the Corridor of Opportunity says the combined rate for Clay and Dickinson counties continued to show a slight increase…going from 2.6 percent in October to 3.2 percent in November. Shryock says the increase is consistent with the time of year we’re in with a reduction of jobs in the tourism industry during the off-season. He expects the trend to continue through February or March. After that, he says the longterm outlook is good.
Actual employment in Clay and Dickinson counties in November edged down to 19,940, but the number of persons unemployed was up 90 from last month, going to 650.
