(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says narcotics charges have been filed against five people as the result of a drug sweep that was conducted last week.
Authorities say the arrests stem from search warrants executed on three residences and a traffic stop that resulted in the arrests of Steven Kathman and Charles Mooney, both of Spencer. Kathman was charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, and possession of drug parpahernalia. Mooney was charged with driving while suspended. Both were booked into the Clay county jail. Bond for Kathman was set at 6,850-dollars; Mooney’s was set at 1,950-dollars.
Authorities say their investigation continued from there with a search warrant that was executed on a residence owned by Kenneth Versluis in Dickens. Authorities say they found controlled substances and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia. Versluis was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver-methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at 132,275-dollars. Also arrested at the residence was Loren Berger of Spencer who was initially charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. A search of Berger’s residence resulted in an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance-marijuana being filed against him. He was also booked into the Clay county jail. Bond was set at 2,275-dollars.
Authorities say that investigation led them to the residence of 28-year-old Terry Morfitt and 29-year-old Danette Little at 1809 Third Avenue West in Spencer. Little was arrested on a warrant for contempt of court. While at the residence, authorities noticed pieces of drug paraphernalia, and Morfitt was also taken into custody. A search warrant was executed on the residence that turned up quantities of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. Morfitt and Little were each charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond for Morfitt was set at 67,275-dollars; Little’s was set at 67,465-dollars.
