(Spencer)– Officials with the Clay County Community Foundation say they received noticed today (Fri.) from the Iowa Department of Economic Development that they’ll be getting $122,951 to distribute in grants to various non-profit organizations.
75 percent of that will actually be available for distribution, with the remaining 25 percent going to a permanent endowment fund, leaving about 90-thousand available for distribution.
Funding comes from state gambling revenues.
Non-profit organizations seeking funds for community betterment projects have until January 17th, 2011 to turn in applications to the Clay County Community Foundation. On-going operational expenses of an organization are not eligible for grant funding.
Grant requests for religious purposes, political activities, endowments, annual fund drives, individuals, capital campaigns, budget deficits, or general operating expenses are also ineligible.
Grant determinations will be made in March, 2011.
