(Spencer)– The Clay County Board of Health is being recognized by members of the Iowa Public Health Association with the 2010 Local Board of Health Award.
The award recognizes outstanding service at the local level.
Lois Stillman of Spencer Hospital’s Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Department nominated the board. She says it was based largely on its assistance with last year’s measles scare in Clay county, and the fact they were able to isolate it to just one case.
In addition, Stillman says the board was instrumental in assisting with H1N1 vaccination clinics and helped make possible the purchase of some equipment, including an emergency response trailer used at the Clay County Fair, along with helping out with RAGBRAI.
The Clay County Board of Health is comprised of Darrel Forslund, MD; Meredith Johnson; Joe Skow; Linda Casey; and Mary Lou Reed (see photo).
