Clay County Authorities Uncover Huge Pot Growing Operation

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has confiscated four million dollars worth of marijuana from an area north of Peterson.

The operation was discovered during a yearly flyover of the county. Sheriff Randy Krukow says it’s through the Reconnaisance and Interdiction Detachment through the National Guard’s counter-drug task force that the county signs up for each year.

Krukow says they had information in the past there was a growing operation north of Peterson but had never been able to locate it on the ground.

Krukow says the operation is located southeast of 125th Avenue just north of Peterson. He says some of the plants in that area were as tall as small trees. He says the bust was record breaking for Clay county.

No arrests have been made yet, but Krukow says they’re reviewing information in the case and asking for assistance from the public. Anyone with information should contact Clay County Crimestoppers at (712) 262-6655.
