Clay Co. Supervisors Open Courthouse Rennovation Bids

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Clay county supervisors will choose a general contractor for their courthouse rennovation project next Tuesday, April 26th.

During their meeting Tuesday (April 19th), the supervisors opened three bid packages for the 1.2 million dollar project. The low bid was submitted by Renaissance Restoration out of Illinois in the amount of 1,086,000-dollars.

Larry Ericcson, the main architect, says the project will include restoration work on the courthouse dome and foundation walls to correct water problems, reinforcing windows, and installation of a new heating, venting and air conditioning system.

Ericcson has taken the bids back to Des Moines to assimilate the information. He will then give the supervisors his written recommendation, and they will award the bid during their next meeting April 26th.

Ericcson says if things go as planned, on-site work should begin in the next three to four weeks.
