(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one-vehicle roll-over early Sunday that caused thousands of dollars of damage to a railroad control shed.
Authorities say 25-year-old Jarred Ray Scott of Spencer was westbound on county road B-24 around 4:00 a.m. Sunday about a mile east of Spencer when he lost control of a 1993 Dodge Caravan while rounding a curve. The vehicle hit a railroad traffic control arm, slid sideways until it made contact with the railroad tracks, then flipped over and continued sliding down the tracks. The vehicle came to rest after hitting a railroad control shed.
Damage to the control arm and shed is estimated at 75-thousand dollars.
A news release from the Sheriff’s Office didn’t indicate whether Scott was injured. He was charged with failure to maintain control.
An investigation continues.
