Clay Co. Authorities Investigate Headstone Pieces

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Clay County Sheriff’s Office is trying to find out where some cemetary headstone pieces came from that were found in a ditch this week.

Sheriff Randy Krukow says they received a report out of Dickens Wednesday. Deputies found 14 chunks that were broken off headstones in a ditch east of Dickens.

The catch is that the local cemetary isn’t missing any headstones.

Krukow says someone apparently transported the pieces from another cemetary. The two cemetaries in Spencer have been checked and neither have been damaged. Krukow says some of the pieces appear to have the name “Norgaard” inscribed on them.

The Sheriff’s Office is hoping the public can help solve this act of criminal mischief. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office at 262-3221 or Crimestoppers at 262-6655. Information that leads to an arrest will be eligible for a cash reward.
