(Webb)– A two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon west of Webb sent two people to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the intersection of 270th Avenue and 480th Street shortly after 2:00 p.m.
Authorities say 34-year-old Timothy Griffin of Sioux Rapids was westbound on 480th Street and 18-year-old Brooke Patten of Webb was northbound on 270th Avenue. Authorities say Patten failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck broadside by the Griffin vehicle. A 1994 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Griffin and a 1996 Buick Century driven by Patten wound up in the northwest ditch.
Patten was taken to Spencer Municipal Hospital with undisclosed injuries; Griffin was life-flighted to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with undisclosed injuries.
Authorities say the mishap remains under investigation and charges are pending against both drivers.
