(Jackson, Mn.)– A proposal is afoot by city officials in Jackson, Minnesota to combine two city staffing positions as part of a cost saving measure. A press release says the city’s Personnel Committee is forwarding a recommendation to the city council that would combine the city’s Water and Street Departments.
Under the proposal, a Public Works Director would be hired to oversee the two departments. City officials say the position would be posted internally and externally with the goal of having a Public Works Director hired by April 1st.
In its recommendation to combine the two departments, the committee sites similarities in the departments’ general responsibilities.
The proposal will go before the full Jackson City Council for consideration at their February 7th meeting.
