(Undated)– Some interesting races are shaping up for some of the city elections in Dickinson county to be held with the November general election.
In Arnolds Park, incumbent Mayor Steve Dulin is being challenged by former Mayor Michael D. Mitchell. For city council, incumbents Garnette Anderson and Mike Koppert are being challenged by Jason Christensen.
The city of Lake Park will apparently have a new mayor. Incumbent Robert Anton didn’t file. Ann Ditsworth was the only person to file. There will also be atleast two new faces on the Lake Park city council. Lance Heikens is the only incumbent who’s filed for re-election. Kathy Jacobson, Anthony Petersen and Michael Treharne are also seeking election. Incumbents Marie Mathiesen and Mel Zevenbergen didn’t file.
In Okoboji, Mayor Bob Schneider will be challenged by Bob Yeske. For city council, incumbents Sharlene Eckard, Sue Larsen and David Thoreson are being challenged by Perry Pearson and Jerry Robinson.
There will be a new face on the Orleans city council. Incumbent Martha Carlson isn’t seeking re-election. Jack Platter was the only person to file…along with the other two incumbents: Eric Anderson and Fred Schroeter. Incumbent Carlton Mitchell was the only person to file for Mayor.
The Superior city council will have a new face as well. Joyce Hasbrook isn’t seeking re-election. Dennis Barie, Senior was the only person to file. Incumbents Susan Muilenberg and Tim Tendal, Senior are seeking re-election. Incumbent Everette Houge was the only person to file for mayor.
There will also be a new member on the Terril city council. Incumbent Paul Williams didn’t return papers. Ken Trojahn was the only person to file. Incumbents Tim Fairchild and Lori Stoltenberg are running unopposed for re-election to their seats. Incumbent Mayor Donald Holmberg is unopposed.
The city of Wahpeton will apparently have a new mayor. Incumbent Walter Slipke did not return papers. Michael McDonough was the only person to file. There will also be a new member on the city council. Incumbent Dennis Kasperbauer didn’t return papers. Jeffrey Lenz was the only person to file…along with the other two incumbents whose seats are up: Phillip Johnson and Wayne Johnson.
Mayoral and council races in Milford, Spirit Lake and West Okoboji will be uncontested as the incumbents were the only ones to file.
The filing period for city elections closed on Thursday of last week.
