Chuck Gass Steps Down From Spencer Hospital Board

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– The Spencer Hospital Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of a second board member in the past nine months.

At Thursday’s meeting, long-time board member Chuck Gass officially submitted his resignation. He has been on the board the past 12 years.

Gass says the main reason for his resignation is because he’s spending more and more time at his home in Naples, Florida.

Gass, who’s wife passed away from cancer, says one of his biggest accomplishments was starting up the hospice of Northwest Iowa. He also played a major role in the fundraising campaign to build the Abben Cancer Center.

Gass says he’ll truly miss working with the other trustees and staff at Spencer Hospital.

After accepting Gass’ resignation the trustees quickly named a successor…John Cotton of Spencer. Cotton will fill the remaining two years of Gass’ term on the hospital board.
