(Spirit Lake)– Construction of a maternity home for teens with unplanned pregnancies is about to get underway.
A groundbreaking ceremony for “Cherish House” is scheduled for Saturday, March 12th at 10:00 a.m. at 2602 Sunner Avenue in Spirit Lake…about two blocks east of Lakes Regional Healthcare.
Cherish House is a project of Shepherd’s Fold Ministries of Milford.
Spokesperson Jan Turner says more than 400-thousand dollars has been raised…including a 40-thousand dollar grant from Avera and 10-thousand dollars from the University of Okoboji Foundation.
Turner says they’re encouraging area supporters to commit to a monthly, quarterly or yearly pledge to the facility’s annual operating fund so house parents can be hired.
The public is invited to attend the March 12th groundbreaking ceremony.
