(Spirit Lake)– Authorities say charges may be pending in connection with a short pursuit Saturday afternoon on Highway Nine east of Lake Park.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says it all started around 4:15 p.m. when a deputy spotted an eastbound vehicle that was being driven erratically…at times crossing into the westbound lane. Authorities say a short pursuit began when the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle. After about a mile or so into the pursuit, the suspect travelled off the road and went into a ditch partially filled with water at about 170th Avenue.
The driver, Paulette Maassen of Alton, was taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake and was transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital, but authorities say it wasn’t the result of any injuries sustained in the crash.
Authorities say charges may be pending against Maassen pending the outcome of DCI lab test results.
