(Versailles, Mo.)– A Kansas City man has been charged in connection with a crash in the Lake of The Ozarks in Missouri that claimed the life of an Okoboji man.
53-year-old Lyle Donkersloot was killed when a vehicle collided with the motorcycle he was driving in Laurie, Missouri. Autopsy results aren’t in yet, but authorities believe Donkersloot died of blunt impact trauma and internal injuries.
Authorities say Donkersloot was riding motorcycles with two family members when a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Zachary Tyrl of Kansas City collided with the rear of the motorcycle driven by Donkersloot, knocking him off the road. Tyrl’s vehicle went off the road and overturned, coming to rest on its top 272 feet beyond the point of impact.
Tyrl was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the first degree under the influence of alcohol and one count of involuntary manslaughter in the second degree.
The crash took place around 2:10 a.m. Sunday.
