(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Nebraska man in connection with a pursuit early this (Wed.) morning in Spirit Lake.
Police say they attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Gary Lee Packett of Lincoln, Nebraska shortly before 2:00 a.m. at the corner of 23rd Street and Keokuk Avenue for a couple of minor traffic violations. Authorities say Packett refused to stop, leading them on a short chase that ended up in the 500 block of 19th street, where he fled the vehicle.
Packett was apprehended a short time later.
He was charged with operating while intoxicated, fourth offense, and eluding…both class “D” felonies. Packett was also charged with interference with official acts, reckless driving, and open container…all simple misdemeanors; and numerous traffic violations. He was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
