Charges Filed Against Man Accused Of Stealing Lawn Equipment

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Charges have been filed against a Spencer man in connection with the theft of several pieces of lawn equipment from Northwest Equipment in Spencer and other dealers in the region.

Authorities say they identified 45-year-old Eric Davis as a possible suspect after receiving information that Davis may have been involved in some area burglaries.

The Spencer Police Department and Clay County Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation that resulted in Davis being arrested Wednesday on charges of theft in the second degree…a class “D” felony; and possession of burglary tools…an aggravated misdemeanor.

Davis was booked into the Clay county jail and was released after posting bond.

Clay county authorities say they have contacted sheriff’s offices in the region in an attempt to locate and verify other pieces of equipment and determine their rightful owners. They say additional charges are pending against Davis from other law enforcement agencies.

Authorities say the thefts took place between August 13th and 17th of this year.
