(Spirit Lake)– An investigation Sunday into a fire that damaged a Spirit Lake strip mall Saturday determined the cause was accidental in nature.
Spirit Lake Fire Chief David Kollasch says Deputy State Fire Marshal David Schipper determined the fire started in the northwest corner of the Wren’s Nest store. He says a lamp that had been left on started a wood shelf on fire. From there it spread to some nearby cloth. Kollasch says the fire then ran out of oxygen and went out, but that it continued to smolder.
