(Spirit Lake)– Candidates aren’t the only ones getting nervous as the clock ticks toward Tuesday’s primary election. Things are getting pretty nerve wracking for Dickinson County Auditor Nancy Reiman as well.
She’s been forced to cancel a test of the county’s vote counting system that had been scheduled for Friday. Reiman says the company that programs a computer chip for the system informed her the needed software won’t arrive until Saturday or Monday. As a result, the test has been re-scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Monday in the board of supervisors room.
Reiman says this is the first time she’s experienced this problem since the current voting equipment was put into operation in 1992.
Reiman says the company was apparently understaffed and not able to keep up with the large number of elections that will be going on Tuesday.
