(Spirit Lake)– The call is going out for a tougher, county-wide silt screen ordinance in Dickinson county.
Currently, the county and several cities have such an ordinance on the books…but each one is different.
Tim Terrell of the Iowa Great Lakes Cleanwater Project told the Dickinson County Board of Supervisors yesterday their goal is to get a uniform silt screen ordinance adopted county-wide. He says it would be much easier to enforce and would be less confusing for contractors.
Representatives of Dickinson county governmental entities are being invited to a meeting October 11th to discuss the matter. A specialist in writing silt screen ordinances for the Natural Resources and Conservation Service will be the guest speaker.
The meeting will be held at 9:00 a.m. October 11th at a site to be determined.
