(Spirit Lake)– Buildings purchased late last winter and spring by the Dickinson county board of supervisors remain vacant and unused.
The county purchased the former Farm Bureau and Radke Service Station buildings on Ithaca Avenue.
Supervisors say the Radke building was purchased to provide indoor storage for the county’s Disabled American Veteran’s van. But Supervisor Chairman Wayne Northey says a leaky roof and poor electrical system have prevented them from using the building. Supervisor June Goldman says that’s about to change though. She tells KUOO news the board has approved a quote to repair that portion of the roof over a garage bay for less than six thousand dollars. That work is to be done in the next week or so.
The cost of revamping the building’s electrical service isn’t known.
Goldman says it’s their intent to store the D-A-V van in that facility this winter.
The former Farm Bureau Building remains unused by the county. Supervisors say they have no immediate plans for it.
