Buffalo Center Man Charged In SL Storage Shed Thefts

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Charges have been filed against a Buffalo Center man for allegedly stealing items from some storage sheds behind the Great Lakes Mall in Spirit Lake.

Spirit Lake Police Chief Jon Martyr says an officer pulled over a pickup last (Wed.) night after observing it being driven at a slow speed with its headlights turned off near the mall. The officer also noticed items in the cargo area of the pickup, some covered with snow, others that were not.

Authorities identified the driver of the pickup as 36-year-old Scott Arlan Moss of Buffalo Center.

Martyr says upon further investigation authorities determined Moss was in possession of property allegedly taken from the storage units, along with some drug paraphernalia and police identification from Buffalo Center.

Moss has been charged with burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony; possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor; and failure to maintain license plates.

Moss was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
