Broken Water Main Prompts Boil Order For Some ILRW Water Customers

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A boil order is in effect fo customers of Iowa Lakes Regional Water System in southern Clay and northern Buena Vista counties due to a flood-related water main break.

The affected area is bordered by 440th Street on the north, 170th Avenue, or county road M-36 on the west, North River Road on the south and 250th Avenue on the east.

Crews with Iowa Lakes Regional Water are making temporary repairs and will need to repressurize and flush the system once those repairs have been made.

Customers are being told to use an alternate source of water if there is any discoloration.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say the boil order will remain in place until permanent repairs are made, water pressure can be restored and the necessary testing is conducted to make sure the water is safe.
