(Milford)– The Dickinson County Conservation Board Monday evening heard another plea to save the Superior church.
Kate Shaw of Spirit Lake was on hand along with several others who want the board to move the church to Kenue park. Shaw and her group were hoping to get a firm commitment from the Conservation Board, but that didn’t happen. Board member Don Lamb said there are just too many unanswered questions yet. He said they need to get a long term plan in place for Kenue Park. Representatives of the Association of Nature Center Administrators will gather public input this spring on a plan. Lamb said the board also has financial concerns that need to be addressed.
Shaw says she’s garnered atleast 14-thousand dollars in pledges to help defray the cost of moving the building. Based on that, she says there’s a lot of interest in preserving the church building in a new location.
The Conservation Board urged Shaw to continue fundraising while they formulate their plan. John Walters, Director of the board, cautioned the group that it could be several months atleast before they’ll be prepared to make a decision.
