Billings’ Term Begins On State Board Of Education

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The former President of Iowa Lakes Community College has started work in a new capacity.

Jim Billings began a six-year term on the Iowa State Board of Education Wednesday. Billings was appointed by Governor Vilsack earlier this spring and was confirmed by the Iowa Senate.

As a member of the board, Billings will help establish educational policies…from early childhood through community colleges. The board also adopts rules for the enforcement of school laws, recommends changes to the general assembly, and adopts long-range plans for the education system…along with other education-related issues.
