Bids Awarded/Decision on PPEL Re-vote Postponed

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake school board this week awarded nearly 2.2 million dollars in bids for the high school remodeling and expansion project. They came in under the engineer’s estimate of 2.755 million. The overall project though is coming in higher than expected due to unforeseen circumstances.

School board members have also decided to hold off on deciding whether to schedule another vote on a proposal to increase the district’s Physical Plant and Equipment Levy. Several said they want to wait until after the first of the year.

An informal survey conducted prior to September 11th showed support for the measure…especially if it was to be used for a new auditorium. However, school board members say the feelings could be different in light of recent national events.
