Bid Awarded On Expansion Of Spirit Lake High School

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Meeting in special session yesterday, the Spirit Lake school board awarded a bid on foundation work for the first phase of the high school expansion. The work was awarded to PCM Midwest of Solon, Iowa who submitted the low bid of 144,200-dollars for the project itself. However, the company’s unit prices to remove uncompacted soil and replace it came in higher than another firm that bid on the project. Negotiations will be held with the company to see if that can be reduced.

Setting a date for a special election on a proposal to increase the Physical Plant and Equipment levy was also on the agenda yesterday. The board took no action though…saying there are more issues that need to be worked out. They’ll discuss the matter at an upcoming retreat.
