(Worthington, Mn.)– Authorities in Nobles county, Minnesota say they’ve taken five suspects into custody in connection with the robbery earlier this week of United Prairie Bank in Round Lake.
Sheriff Kent Wilkening says a search warrant was executed around 4:30 a.m. Thursday at a residence near Round Lake. It resulted in the arrests of 26-year-old Jose Angel Almendares; 22-year-old Roger Almendares-Leon; 22-year-old Alex Almendares; 27-year-old Alexis Alemdares-Leon and 25-year-old Holvine Almendares-Leon.
Wilkening says they’re being held on suspicion of first-degree aggravated robbery.
Wilkening says officials received a report that some people were trying to pass some bills believed to be from Tuesday’s robbery at a business. Upon investigating, Wilkening says it was determined the bills were marked and were from the robbery.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Nobles County Sheriff’s Office in making the arrests.
Wilkening says there’s a possibility of federal charges being filed in the case.
