B16 & Hwy 71 Crash In Clay County Injures Four

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Sunday at the intersection of Highway 71 and Clay County Road B-14 sent four people to the hospital.

The Iowa State Patrol says 22-year-old Craig VonEhwegen of Dickens was driving a 2005 Dodge Ram westbound on County Road B-14 when he failed to yield and pulled into the path of a southbound 2009 Toyota Corolla driven by 50-year-old Gwen Kardell of Spencer.

Kardell and three passengers in her vehicle, Kara Luebke, Bradi Baschke and Lindsy Bonney…all 16 years of age and all from Spencer…were transported to Spencer Hospital. There was no immediate word on the extent of their injuries or conditions.

The collision took place shortly after 4:00 p.m. Sunday.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Spencer Ambulance, Spencer Fire Department and Fostoria Rescue.
