(Storm Lake)– Buena Vista county authorities say some time cards found near the body of an infant at a Storm Lake recycling center are not necessarily relevant to the case.
The infant’s body was found a week ago as it was passing through some equipment at the facility.
The investigation had centered on the time cards as authorities were trying to find out where the infant had come from. But officials say the source of the time cards isn’t connected to the victim.
Sheriff Chuck Eddy says investigators are interviewing expectant mothers and following up on names and leads that have come into his office. So far, though, they haven’t been able to come up with anything.
An autopsy indicates the child was born 24 to 48 hours prior to its discovery at the recycling center. The report determined the infant was a male with dark hair. A race wasn’t determined but African/American has been ruled out.
Officials are still asking for the public’s assistance in the case.
