(Undated)– Another reminder to keep safety in mind this Halloween. Kevin Krull of the Iowa State Patrol reminds parents to make sure children are seen and that drivers need to be extra cautious…
“I’ve already seen a few community events where they’ve had some different stuff going on with that, so watch out for the young people out there with their costumes doing their trick-or-treating. As a parent you want to make sure you’re helping the kids around and cross at well-lit crosswalks. Be looking for the cars and the cars need to be looking for the pedestrians that are out there.”
He says it’s important trick-or-treaters are visible…
“Make sure you have reflective material and that flashlight so they’re well seen, be well seen, that way you take away those excuses for those drivers not to be able to see you.”
And for adults planning to attend Halloween celebrations, Krull has this advice…
“Remember to line that sober ride up and have that sober ride part of the plan for the party.”
Also a reminder that most area cities have designated hours for trick-or-treating. Residents not wanting to participate should leave their porch or entry lights turned off.
