(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council voted Wednesday evening to advertise for the sale of not to exceed two-point-seven million dollars in general obligation bonds.
City Administrator Ron Walker says the money will be used for some capital improvements over the next four to five years. They include the city’s portion of Hinshaw Bridge, Sawmill Bridge, re-doing the streets leading to those bridges, and other projects. Walker says this is a good time to take out bids due to very favorable interest rates. He says the bonds will be paid back through the city’s urban renewal districts.
In other business, the council awarded the low bid of 14,976-dollars from PSI, Incorporated of Milford for the grading, drainage and utility work at the Okoboji baseball diamond just east of Highway 71. They also awarded the low bid of 22-thousand dollars for new lights for the field from Mueske Electric of Spirit Lake.
The council also awarded a bid of 4,107-dollars from Cohr’s Construction of Spirit Lake to construct a bump-out in front of Yesterday’s on West Broadway Street to allow for walking space between a street light and the building; and they approved a motion to proceed with the sale of some city-owned property near the Gardner cabin. Doctor Rick Wilkerson made the request, saying he would like the land between his street and his house lot line to accomodate a setback requirement for an addition he wants to build. A resolution of intent to sell the parcel will be considered next month.
