Arnolds Park Police To Add Canine Unit

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park Police Department wants to start up a canine unit. Chief Clark Reekers says they’re looking at a special breed of dog that could be trained not only for tracking down drugs, but to look for people and bodies. Officer Todd Schillinger will be trained to work with the dog.

Reekers says there’s one thing standing in the way of actually starting up the canine unit, though. It’s money. Reekers says they want to raise 10-thousand dollars to cover the cost of the dog and training. He says they’ve raised two-thousand dollars so far.

Reekers says the goal is to get the money raised soon so they can have the dog by this coming summer.

Anyone who would like to donate should contact the Arnolds Park City Hall.
