(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park city council Wednesday tabled action on a request to rezone some land at 29 Dam Road from Residential to Commercial. The rezoning would allow for a boutique to be located at that address.
Several neighbors have gone on record opposing the rezoning, saying the business would cause traffic problems. The owner denies that, saying the business would be very small and wouldn’t generate that much traffic, adding an old garage on the site will be torn down for off-street parking.
The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted August 17th to recommend the council approve the rezoning.
Councilman Jason Christensen was absent from Wednesday’s meeting. Another councilman, Jim Jensen, said he wouldn’t be able to vote on the matter, siting a conflict of interest. With that, the council voted to table the issue to a special meeting September 28th. Councilman Mitch Watters made the motion, saying he wanted a full council present to consider the matter.
