(Arnolds Park)– Some residents east of Arnolds Park that currently don’t have potable water should be getting it soon as the result of Wednesday’s Arnolds Park City Council meeting.
The council approved an agreement with Clay Regional Water under which the city will relinquish a very small portion of its service territory to Clay Regional Water to serve some residents in the rural water system’s territory.
Wells in that area are contaminated and several residents have been hauling water for years waiting for the city and Clay Regional Water to work out some sort of agreement.
Another part of the deal allows the city to charge those residents a rate similar to Clay Regional’s since the area isn’t within city limits.
The agreement also allows the city to “buy down” water rates of those areas in the future should they be annexed into the city.
