(Spirit Lake)– Another winter storm is wreaking havoc with travelers and area schools.
The snow started falling early Sunday and continued throughout the day, through the night, and as of 10:00 a.m. Monday, it was still snowing…with about seven inches of new snow on the ground.
All of the snow resulted in all local schools closing their doors for the day.
The National Weather Service says another one to two inches of snow is expected before it winds down later this (Mon.) afternoon.
There’s now more than a foot of snow on the ground in the Iowa Great Lakes Area (nearly 15 inches to be exact).
Adding insult to injury is the temperature. The National Weather Service says readings will remain well below normal through atleast the end of this week, with another snow storm expected Wednesday and Thursday.
